Bonuses, Overtime, Raises, & Refunds

They are pretty much a standard of the job market for most. Bonuses, working overtime, tax refunds...those things that bring in extra income beyond our guaranteed salary or wage. Many times a reward for working hard - going above and beyond the expected.

My gut says most of us use them for perks to have fun...go on a bigger vacation, get that snowmobile or boat, new carpet, put in a home theatre.

What if, instead of working hard for these extras that we spend and use for ourselves, we used them to help someone or many others in need?

Instead of spending that bonus on a trip to Mexico, what if you used it to buy a car for a single mom who needs it? Instead of spending that tax refund on a new set of golf clubs, what if you bought gift cards to the grocery store and gave them to a family or families who have been devastated by the economy? What if you purposely worked overtime to pay for several children to get winter coats & boots or school supplies? What if, instead of using that raise to raise your standard of living, you committed it to the church to distribute to those in need?

What if?
