John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Leviticus is the 3rd book of the Torah, the 16th chapter is God telling us how to prepare a sin offering.  3:16

Lev. 16:  1 And the Lord spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord, and died; 

Lev. 16:  10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness. 
Mark 15:15 And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified. 

Jesus is the sin offering, Barabbas is the scapegoat.  Barabbas means "son of the father".  Jesus is the "Son of the Father"

God followed His own law in preparing our sin offering.
