Special Sundays
Apparently I suck at finding the right balance of things. I either go from one extreme to another. Sabbaths, or Sundays as I like to call it, are no different.
I use to treat church like elementary school, just a place to hang out with old friends and make new ones. Memorize verses, get stickers in Sunday School, sing interactive songs (love those!); nothing special or different, just different group of friends and slightly different lessons. Don't get me wrong, my Sunday School teachers were great, tried to teach me to fear God and history within the Bible (fun fact: Shaw was one of my teachers O.o) and I built great friendships there...I'm still pretty close with 5/6 girls in my age group. But I just didn't get that Sunday was special in a whole other way, its a day where I focus on God. like a laser. (He knows I struggle with focus, so He gave me an entire day to get it right.)
A I got older (ha! I sound ancient when I say that), I started swinging the other way...Sundays became special, but not in a good way. They were now my "restricted" days; days where I had to say no to almost every party, event, etc. Where I felt like I had talk, look, act a certain way...yes, there were a few Sundays where I took it seriously all the way and focused on God, but those are few and far between. I'm going to try to get the entire family on board and make Sundays special. Make time for the people but don't get too caught up in it.
My goal for these two Sundays:
-Spend time with family, laugh, talk about what's going on in our lives. (brunch? food-lover right here)
-Give God a solid hour. no distractions. at. all.
**Make Sundays one of the best days of my week.**
