Perception: Law or Instructions
Lord, at one time I too saw many rules, regulations, or laws. It is this word law that has sting. Yes, there are negative consequences for bending or breaking the law. Yes, that stings also, yet the consequences are not the major issue.
My original assessment of the ten commandments was interpreted as the ten laws. This is because I did not like the law, it served to restrain my will from being asserted. I mean really, I am a god and should be able to do what I want, when I want, and without regard for anyone or thing. I am above the law. Muhahahahah! Not really. It just honks me off when I am impeded by the "law".The military has many laws and rules. The interesting thing about a lot of the laws and/or rules is their origin. Typically, something bad happened to someone in a particular area and then a law/rule was made. I recall a time when I heard about two planes crashing while conducting operations. It unfolded like: day one plane crash, day two plane crash, day three safety stand down for the fleet. Yes, we had safety training for eight hours. Insane? Not really. We needed to keep safety our priority and training would help.
I could look at it like, two planes crash and we get a day off law. I could get honked off and talk about all the stupid people. I could just go on about this stupid training for hours. Safety training is boring, yet needed to teach me.
I propose laws/rules are nothing more than instruction. Once I understand that a law/rule is like "standing stones" then I can learn from others misfortunes or victories as in standing stones. The statement about laws in the Navy was,"If there is a rule. Someone died to make it."
Lord, continue to bless me with understanding how Your, once perceived law, instruction is good for my life. Yes, it is boring and restricts me, yet is necessary like "safety training". Keep filling me with Your instruction. It is much better than my once perceived rules and laws.
Your instruction keeps me safe. Your instructions keep others safe. Your instruction draws me to You. Keep bringing me life giving instruction!
To You be the glory.
Amen…
