My Leprosy
One of them, when he realized that he was healed, turned around and came back, shouting his gratitude, glorifying God. He kneeled at Jesus' feet, so grateful. He couldn't thank him enough-and he was a Samaritan. (Luke 17:15, 16 MSG)

Nothing seemed to phase Jesus. He was fully in the moment with each person, acting appropriately in each moment. No matter who he encountered, his life was constant and he found teachable moments.
The encounter with these ten lepers was no different. His compassion for them was great and His healing power complete. Even though leprosy was/is a horrific disease, Jesus wasn't reluctant to embrace them.
The end of this story got me thinking...an ungrateful heart or attitude, breeds leprosy in my spirit. It eats away at my faith and cripples my ability to walk without fear. An ungrateful heart causes me to live with a paranoia of something worse always happening while having a negative outlook on all things.
What's the remedy?
Making a choice to be grateful.
Jesus helps me be grateful, in that while I am leprous in my attitudes, He overwhelms me with love and opens my eyes, giving me opportunity to be grateful. I choose to look around and realize He touched me. He loves me. He demonstrates His love in tangible ways. I will praise Him and be thankful in all things.
Father,
My heart is keenly aware of the non-gratitude I often display. I know as I praise you, the leprosy of being ungrateful wil be healed. May my heart and my mouth be filled with praise and thanks today. AMEN.
