Keep on pursuing

Gideon and his 300 men were worn out. They were hungry and tired. But the men of Midian who had not been killed were still running, so they ran, too.

How does this apply in our lives today? We don't have enemies who come and attack our homes and our towns, do we? We don't suffer the kind of persecution that Gideon's nation knew.

What we do know is sin. We're very familiar with it. The enemy of our souls knows just where to attack, and he does a great job. We have to be diligent to fight against it, using the weapons that God has provided. Gideon encouraged those who were angry because they weren't involved in the fight from the beginning that they did what they were called to do. His words to his 300 must have been just as encouraging, because they kept on.

As leaders, we must know when & how to embolden and encourage those who serve with us to see the battle for what it is, see the real enemy then pursue it. We are not told to sit back and let the battle come to us. Let's go get 'em! The gates of hell will NOT prevail.
