What a great passage! Abraham has just been circumcised and is resting his old body - when he sees three strangers approaching - instead of waiting for them to get to him (like Lot in the next chapter) he jumps up and runs to them! Wow - just circumcised and running does not a good sentence make...He immediately offers to wash their feet (unlike Lot who offers that last) then Abraham does the most amazing thing. Something that is so far opposite of what we as Christians often do - he offers the strangers something to eat...but read it - he offers them a "morsel of bread" and then he makes them a feast!!!!! See a good host knows that to genuinely offer hospitality we should make the guest feel as though they are not any imposition and then we should shower them with the generosity that G_d Himself gives us daily. Too often we, as Christians, offer strangers and others a feast - the give them a morsel!!!
