No Laughing Matter

Sarah is 99 years old, her time of childbearing has passed, yet here is this visitor states that Sarah will give birth to a son by next year. Sarah is probably thinking, "REALLY? Have you been in the sun too long? Too much wine? Both?" And she laughs to herself.

I don't think it was laughter because something humorous was said. I think Sarah laughed derisively with contemptuous disbelief.

Imagine her shock when the One asks Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh?" I'm almost certain there was the clanging of pots as Sarah dropped them in stunned amazement.

Verse 14 thumped me right between the eyes: "Is anything too difficult for the LORD?" This concept is not singular in its presentation in Scripture. We see it over and over, and the answer is ALWAYS the same: "With God NOTHING is impossible!"Absolutely nothing. Not one single thing; zip; zilch; nada; bupkiss!

Sarah even tried to cover for herself by lying (sound familiar? we still do it too.) and said, "I didn't laugh." You can't lie to God. You just can't. He already knows, so be straight forward with Him.
