The Sabbath of Rest

I just got to thinking about the concept of the Sabbath, instituted here at Creation. The Bible says God made this seventh day--a day of rest--holy! Just like everything else religious, I think maybe we've stuck the Sabbath in a box. Just like the Pharisees (John 9) we honor the day but miss the point entirely. The reason I'm thinking this is because I also read in Hebrews this morning where we are challenged to "enter into rest." The sabbath is more than a day, it's a life-style!

God is not impressed with our effort, our productivity, our success--even from a ministry perspective. What delights the heart of God is complete and total dependance on HIM. He is impressed with us ONLY when we are impressed with HIM. When we rely on Him to get r done. When our spirit is calm. When we don't need anything other than Him. When we are motivated by the things that motivate him.
