Chosen for suffering
15 But the Lord said to him, Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.16 For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.
What I find most interesting here is the word "For" in verse 16. God is saying that the reason Paul is a chosen instrument is BECAUSE He will show him how much he must suffer.
May God open our eyes to the hope-filled pain of our calling so that we would not shy away from, or try to get around, but walk through the valley of the shadow of death, right behind the One who walks before us.
