I never see it occur in the Bible that a man hears God's voice, and it isn't something that He is immediately required to put into practice. when Peter sees the vision of the animals on the sheet and is basically told that Gentiles are to be accepted as God's chosen also now. Peter didn't think, "wow, that's good.. it really gives me something to think about." He doesn't call up the gang and chat it up for a few weeks. He started doing it. God immediately gives Pete the chance to put this new knowledge into action right away. meanwhile in Jerusalem many smart guys were talking about the gentiles debate... and it was a lot of talking! but ask Cornelious the Centurion that Peter encountered shortly after this revelation which was more helpful to him, the guys chatting it up in jerusalem or peters action. peter put hands and feet on the Word of God. because if you encounter the living breathing words of God and all you get out of it is something to chat with the bro's about. what's the point? Put hands and feet on it. test it in the real world. be on the lookout for God to give you the chance to put some skin on the new belief, because He will.
