Joseph's attitude

Recently,my wife had a conversation with someone about the existence of God. This person had made a choice not to believe in God because of all the horrible things that happen to innocent people, especially children. This person says that a loving God shouldn't allow their own children to be safe while other little children around the world are murdered or starve to death.

But I think Joseph has shown us the correct way to approach hardship here in this verse. I love his attitude! Look at what he had suffered because of his brothers, but in the end, it became a blessing. Even though his brothers made a terrible choice, God used that for not only His glory, but also to elevate Joseph, and ultimately save Joseph's family, some of the very people who treated him terribly! Would God have still helped Joseph get into that position if his brothers had treated him well? I think so? Does this mean that his brothers should have treated him this way? Certainly not! But God took a horrible circumstance and worked it out for the good of Joseph, who loved God (Romans 8:28).

My life is changing based on this one verse. I've had people do some nasty things to me in life, and it's very easy to hold grudges. But if I look back and am honest, I can see that God has used those situations to help me, to help me grow, to make me better. Granted, I haven't lived in a war-torn country where I've had to struggle to find food, but we all have our heartaches, our own struggles. We can choose to become bitter, or we can look at it as Joseph did --- how can I let God's glory shine in this event?
