Reading Ezekiel 21:15-24 really made my heart go out to Ezekiel. God took his wife away from him, killing her. And Ezekiel was not to show his grief in public. When asked by others why he wasn't showing his grief, God told him to say that he was to be an example for what was to come. God made Ezekiel an example through his grief. If God told me something like that, if I knew he was going to take a friend of mine away from me on purpose only to make me an example, I'm not sure if I would be too happy about that. What really surprises me if that Ezekiel obeyed God. I'm sure he was really sad, but in the text, it doesn't say anything about Ezekiel questioning God or asking him why. I think that would be my first response. Anyways, I just hope that I can grow to have obedience like that, and also come to terms with the fact that just because we are Christians, doesn't mean our lives we will be joyful all the time. Quite the opposite, right?
