Lessons from the Journey of Joseph
These verses set the stage for what's about to happen in Joseph's life...they indicate that the "pit" experience is a few verse down is coming to him. In other words, Joseph is not without some responsibility in all of this. He is young, a bit fooilish perhaps, with mouth unchecked, and his brothers dont like him for good reason.
Good question: what must Joseph have been thinking in the pit?
Look at this, the brothers threw Joseph into the pit and the Bible says they "sat down to eat".
