The Gospel as entrance into Christ's kingdom

Notes from sermon by Pastor Halsted at Calvary Baptist Church

As Americans we tend to hold to a democratic version of salvation with one voice equals one vote instead of having someone who rules over us (a king) Maybe we can accept the idea of a king like England has, in lots of pomp and circumstance but doesn't really affect our lives.. Pomp and circumstance on Sunday but doesn't really affect me outside of that

The above is wrong we serve a king that affects our daily lives, and isn't the reality of the call of the gospel

To embrace the King is to embrace the kingdom

Vs 3-8 because of what God has already done Paul can pray for what God will do (vs 9-12)

Vs 9 grow in knowledge and spiritual wisdom

Vs 10 walk together in a manner worthy of God

Vs 11 to be strengthened in power

Vs 12-14 Vs 12 why should we give thanks? I he qualified us to share in redemption, it's not a process here it is an act.. He did it he qualified us see ephesians 2:11-15 see vs 12 for a definition of what being separate from Christ means and vs 13 for how we became near and are no longer strangers vs 19

Vs 13 of Colossians, transfered to light and out of darkness.. So God sends his only beloved son (John 3:16) transferring us from kingdom of sin and death to kingdom of Christ See Romans 6

Vs 14 the reason for Christ comming
