Paul deals with the issue of the Lord's Supper in the Corinthian Church.
As believers come to the Lord's Supper.
~ We eat in the present in FELLOWSHIP with one another...
- Lord's supper is suppose to be consecrated to Jesus
- The Corinthians weren't keeping The Lord's Supper holy.
- Those who had were going before those who didn't have.
- The wealthy were gorging themselves.
- Paul asked a series of rhetorical questions with blatantly obvious answers.
- Paul reminds the Corinthians that we are all on level ground when coming before Christ.
- Matthew 5:23
- We come to the Lord's Supper as one, equal.
~ Focusing on Christ's DEATH which brings us life...
- Jesus is the source of instituting The Lord's Supper
- It is a reminder of what Christ did for us
- Philippians 2:5-8
- unselfishly consumed, unselfishly given
- John 19:28
- Hebrews 9:11
- 1 Peter 1:18
~ Doing so as eschatological people AWAITING His return...
- Waiting for the return of Jesus Christ
