When Heaven is Happy
"Without faith it is impossible to please God." (Heb. 11:6)
So the flip side is that faith pleases God. Faith saves. Faith heals. No wonder it makes God smile.
Jesus told the sinful woman who anointed Him at Simon's house, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace." (Lk. 7:50) When a bleeding woman touched Jesus in hopes of healing, Jesus said to her, ""Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace." (Lk. 8:48)
The exercise of faith invited Christ's response. And in both cases, He tells them to, "Go in peace."
Our faith brings God's peace. Peace over chaos. Peace over confusion. Peace over fear. Peace over sadness. Peace over pride. Peace over sin, death, anxiety and suffering.
Faith is also certain hope. (Heb. 11:1) Eager expectation. Something to live for. Even to die for. It is purpose and meaning and transcendence. It is THE thing that makes life matter. And it the only thing that makes us free.
By faith, we believe.
By faith, we live.
By faith, we move.
By faith, we have our being.
By faith, we are free...from all fear. from the sting of death.
By faith, we do the unthinkable.
We take risks.
We give lavishly.
We pray.
We believe.
We live. Forever.
By faith.
Faith is earth's peacemaker and heaven's happiness. Jesus told Thomas, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed [happy] are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (Jn. 20:29)
I am never happier than when heaven's happiness is the same as mine. When I believe. When I have faith. I am saved. I am healed. I have peace. I have hope. Happy indeed.
"For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (II Cor. 4:17)
