Preparing for later
After being anointed by God as the future king, David was provisionally summoned to serve in the palace, next to Saul. Was God preparing young David to sit in the throne 38 years later? You bet.
Between the issue of the anointing and the actual fulfillment of it there's often a gap. But the gap is the training ground. Don't complain or be anxious. Just learn your lessons -- or you'll never be ready to receive the blessing.
