Back to the grave we go
The women were awestruck and bowed down in worship. The men said, "Why are you looking for the Living One in a cemetery? (Luke 24:5 MSG)

Jesus was dead. He was buried. He now lives. While these statements are familiar to me, they certainly do not lose meaning to me. The resurrection power and life of Christ is active today just as it was over 2,000 years ago.
Jesus still takes buried things and resurrects them, leaving tombs empty and void.
But to the grave I often return looking for something resembling life. Dazed, confused, or perhaps as a desperate grasp for something familiar, I return to old habits and attitudes to satisfy a fleshly desire. Often times I do this. A deep craving within my soul arises and I go searching for something to satisfy. The attitude I display, leaves me with the pain of a cut relationship. The pride and self praise I take in an accomplishment, leaves me isolated at a short lived celebration.
Why do I seek the living among a cemetery? Why do I return to a grave to reminisce of a life gone by that I crucified with Christ and no longer lives? There is no life for me in the grave.
The old is indeed gone. All things are being made new. I want to search that out, rather than play flashlight tag in the cemetery of my life, looking for something that is dead and brings no life.
FATHER,
You are the source of my life. I will seek you today not anything else. AMEN.
