Defender of the Defenceless (by Musings of a Pilgrim)

"For He stands at the right hand of the needy, to save their lives from those who would condemn them." Ps. 109:31

Who does God choose to associate Himself with? The rich? The powerful? No, our God is a God that chooses to stand at the right hand of the needy! This image of the Defender of the Defenceless is a powerful one. Jesus Himself, when He walked the earth, modelled this character of God to perfection. Often we see Him amongst the sinners of the day, those society has cast out. So much so that He was called a "friend of sinners" (Mt 11:19).

What are you doing today to model this in your life? Are you known to be a defender of the defenceless? Do you even know the needs around you? Or have you shut yourself in a cocoon of blissful ignorance and selfish hedonism? I am writing this particularly to those who claim to be followers of Christ. Those who claim to have the very living God residing within them. How much of your life is actually reflecting God's character? Let us open our eyes to the needs around us. You have been put specifically by God into your situation for a reason. Let us boldly stand up for those who cannot.
