Are You KIDDING ME?
Okay, God tells Moses to throw his rod on the ground. Moses obeys and the rod becomes a snake. I don't know about snakes in Moses' day, but the snakes I've met......don't like people very much. They get more than a little irritated and grouchy when people are around.
Verse 3 says, "Moses jumped back from it." NO KIDDING!!! Can't blame a guy for not wanting to be around cranky snakes! Now imagine what went through Moses' mind when, in verse 4, God tells him to "grab the snake by the tail."
Let's get one thing VERY clear, my Grandpa always told me that if you grab a snake by the tail it WILL bite you in the butt! I think he was speaking from experience or metaphorically, but either way, I would be very hesitant about grabbing a snake by the tail.
Scripture makes it sound as if Moses had no fear or doubts and that he simply stepped up and grabbed it by the tail. REMEMBER Verse 3? The verse that said "Moses jumped back from it"? REMEMBER THAT ONE?
Faith is not having any doubts. Faith is doing IN SPITE of the doubts!
