The Bible's opening verses offer us our first glimpse of God. He presents Himself as one who brings order from darkness, emptiness and formlessness. He seperates light from darkness, sky from water, water from land. He commands His creation to "produce," to "mark" seasons and days and years to "govern" the day and night-all ways of establishing order.
