Back up plan

So how often do I ask god for things, yet still have a back plan? Do I make a list off pros and cons and judge from a list? Where is the faith in all that? To trust in god shouldn't be completely blind, but it should be all in.

What I mean is that when we ask for something like a new job, or a relationship, we can't approach this half heartedly. What good is it for God to give its something and then for us to second guess it?

We enter a marriage with a thought that we can give it away if things get tough, or change a job if we don't agree with the boss. there is no turning back.

I love the story of Cortez when in 1590 his Spanish fleet landed in mexico to explore and colonise a new world. Too ensure his men were fully engaged, he burnt his ships! There was no return, they asked for a new home, now they had one, no turning back, no surrender!

We need that kind of faith that kind of assurance, no turning back!
