Turning away from God can Cost You Your Life

A. Israelite Apostasy. 5.
5. I will therefore put you in remembrance. Jude now gives three examples of how Deuteronomy 13:1-11 has applied in history and resulted in death and destruction for the offenders. First, those who believed not were destroyed (Num 14:35). That great tragedy, you will remember, was called the "day of bitterness," or "day of testing" in the wilderness before the entrance into the Promised Land. The greatest responsibility was upon those "spies" or scouts who brought the "evil report." They not only disbelieved themselves, but they caused the people of God to despair and disbelieve the Word of God. They were destroyed.
