Splinters

Scripture:
Romans 2:9 (The Message)
If you go against the grain, you get splinters, regardless of which neighborhood you’re from, what your parents taught you, what schools you attended.

Observation:
This passage from 7 - 11 focuses more on our actions, what we do or don't do in God's economy.
Embracing the way God wants us to live will ensure we are not going against the grain. It's not about our family, how we were brought up, which school we went to, if we disobey God we will reap the consequences.

The Message gives a picture of pulling against the grain and getting splinters. We may have a rough piece of wood, but if we run our hand along it with the grain, we shouldn't get a splinter, it's when we run it back that the pain starts.

Application:
We have received God's Grace, we know His Word. There is no excuses for trying to "get our own way, or taking the easy path". (Vs8)
When we embrace the life that God has called us to, we will see the payoffs. We will see His faithfulness, we will see Him move.

Prayer:
Lord, at all times I want to seek your face, I want to obey your call. When I start to look inward, and lose sight of you by focusing on myself, please redirect my eyes. I want to live my whole life dedicated to Your call.
