What is truth?

Pilate's throw away comment (if, in fact, that is what it was) seems a frustration with determining truth in the quagmire of cultural paradigms. The Jewish leaders (Sadducees/high priests, particularly) were promoting one view of Jesus and "kingdom." Rome, meanwhile, maintained consistent pressure as to the proper role/view of "kingdom" (empire). And Jesus adds to the mix with a completely new tangent which defies geographical territory, authority structures and "laws."

Even so, "truth" stands before Pilate, and he refuses to "listen to [His] voice." Most horrific of all, Pilate then turns to the Jewish mob to determine "truth" by giving them a choice, and they choose an insurrectionist to be freed.

And truth abuse is still in vogue today.
