7 Literal Days... Not Long Ages
- Genesis 1:5 (NASB)
- Genesis 1:8 (NASB)
- Genesis 1:13 (NASB)
- Genesis 1:19 (NASB)
- Genesis 1:23 (NASB)
- Genesis 1:31 (NASB)
These verses indicate that the creation event was actual days (and not long period of undefined times). this is because each day ends with the phrase "And there was evening and there was morning" which can only happen within the context of a actual date. Furthermore, it then goes on to give a numerical day with the definite article *the* first day...*the* second day...
It is a fact well known by scholars that wherever the word Yom (translated "day" in english) occurs in scripture with the phrase "evening and morning" or a numerical modififer (first, second) it ALWAYS, without exception means a literal day. To assert that it is not so here is to try to deny the clear meaning of the text.
