That which cost me nothing.

My service to the Lord as a pastor and the daily price paid by my family for following that high calling is a big part of my offering to the Lord. My human natureand father's heart would cause me to desire a very easy and rewarding pastorate, however as the stakes are raised during year 3 at this church, I am reminded that the price we pay is part of our offering and we lay before our Lord and how disappointing it would be to offer Him a life and ministry that cost me nothing. So when I weep over the broken hearts that I see in my wife and children from time to time - hearts broken by dysfunctional christians - I must stop and realize that this is about the highest price a loving father can pay. These are part of the offerings that I have the priviledge of presenting before my Lord. In 1984 Dwight Liles wrote "We Are An Offering" and the words of that song express it well - "We lift our voices, we lift our handsWe lift our lives up to YouWe are an offeringLord use our voices, Lord use our handsLord use our lives, they are Yours We are an offering All that we have, all the we are All that we hope to be We give to You, we give to You We lift our voices, we lift our handsWe lift our lives up to You We are an offering, we are an offering"
