Loving the Place where God Dwells - Loving One Another
"O Lord, I love the habitation of your house and the place where your glory dwells."
I love this passage. The Psalmist is giving us a beautiful model of corporate or private worship. Surrendering at the altar. Giving praise and thanksgiving.
Of course, in our New Covenant, the glory of God no longer dwells in man-made temples. Sure, His Presence and Glory is there ... but we Believers are His habitation.
What really struck me as I read this was how I should love my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
If God's Spirit dwells in my brother/sister in the Lord - they are His temple, His dwelling place, just like I am. So, do I love them? Do I treat them with respect and honor? Or do I defile them?
Think of it like this - I love this person, after all, Lord, you dwell in them. You've paid for them, You love them, and just as the Psalmist says he loves the place where you dwell (the temple in the OT), I should love my brothers and sisters in Chris, in whom You dwell".
