"The pace at which I'm doing God's work is destroying God's work in me."
That quote is from Bill Hybels. I heard him say it at the opening session of the Leadership Summit 2009.
Here's the thing. Boundaries make me a better person. I love better. Live better. Think better. Contrary to my old mindset ... I can't and SHOULDN'T run every day to empty & leave it all on the field. When I don't keep an emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual reserve ... the negative fallout happens to the people and projects around me. I have a responsibility to appropriately take care of me so I can appropriately care for others. What do people see when they look at me? How would they describe my life? exhausted? fearful? frazzled? stressed? Or... peace, joy, selflessness?
When I work as if the world depends on my efforts, it's a joke. Need to leave margin. The world depends on God's strength, not mine.
