Unconditional Serving
Joseph was successful in everything he did. We dream about being successful in so many different things. Joseph's success comes in the midst of a really difficult situation. He is in a foreign place, away from everyone he knows and those who believe the same thing he believes. Yet the Lord was with Joseph and allowed him to succeed.
Joseph must have been incredibly focused on whom he was really serving - God. It would have been really easy for him to come up with many reasons to not serve Potiphar or treat him with respect. But he didn't. He served Potiphar without compromising his faith and he did it in a way that Potiphar realized that Joseph's God was real, present, and powerful enough to help him succeed.
Are we willing to serve other people that way? As I reflect on when and where I serve, I see certain conditions that must be met before I am willing to give my time and effort. Honestly and ashamedly, I often limit my serving to people I already know, those who are most like me, instead of those who need to see how God's presence and power works through my ability to humbly serve them.
What kind of success would God give us if we were willing to serve unconditionally like Joseph?
