Jonah 4
Jonah was actually mad that God had spared Ninevah. Jonah was ready to see Ninevah destroyed because of their evil ways, but when God showed mercy on the people and accepted their request for forgiveness, Jonah was angry.
Now, was he mad because he thought the people of Ninevah deserved to be destroyed or was has mad because he felt he looked like an idiot because the destruction he preached about had been avoided?
God showed Jonah through a gourd He provided for a day that God is much more interested in the lives and well-being of the more than sixscore thousand people living in Ninevah that He was in Jonah's feelings.
We need to remember the same thing, God has a plan and a purpose and it is to draw to salvation any and all people who will come. Sometimes we Christians get to self-righteous and want to see sinners destroyed and see disobedient Christians punished rather than see salvation and forgiveness.
Let's keep our thoughts and minds on the love and forgiveness of God and not on the punishment we all once deserved.
