The Higher they are the Higher they Fall

I'm reminded of Jonah after he gave his message of repentance to the people of Ninevah and saw huge numbers repent and come to faith in God. As far as we know it's his greatest moment in the eyes of God, and most followers of Jesus as well, and he crawls up under a plant and complains that God didn't destroy them like he said he would. Elijah no doubt is riding high after the mass conversion/execution as a result of the One True God responding with fire and consuming the sacrifice and yet because of one woman's threat, is now loathing as well, wanting to die. Even as followers of God who see God do amazing things as a result of what He tells us do, forget that He is in control all along. It was not by our own strength that any of it happened, so it shouldn't be any hard fall when things go back to obscurity. Doing great things for God can some times lead to forgetting about God altogether and cause us to focus on out present predicament.
