All throughout church history are these pockets where religion has a very tarnished reputation. While these times stand out as shameful moments to those of us who try to follow Jesus, they really represent the more constant tool religion plays in everyday life. In the hands of those with power it tramples those who truly seek to follow it with the utmost sincerity only to give more to the one who already has more than the one it takes from. I can't help but feel like I just saw this happen, down the street, today.
