Truly living for Christ.

I think in the day we live in it is very easy to be deceived about our "actual" spiritual condition. We may "feel" like we know God and are friends with Him, but what does it mean to really be in Christ? If we are living according to the rule of our own appetites and are consumed with this world then are we "actually" friendly toward God or hostile? This passage mentions being an "enemy of the cross." I could be wrong, but can you be a friend of God and an enemy to the cross? The cross is not just a place that Jesus died and does not only "symbolize" God's love but is the "way" of Christians. We are to love as Christ loved, to live sacrificially as Christ lived. To live with a different "modus operandi" we are violating the way and course of Christ and his nature (Spirit).
