I Never Used to Like Salt Water
I can totally see Jesus and the disciples and all the people on the mountain that Jesus is talking to thinking back to this part in their history. As Jesus is calling them out to be "Salt" in the world mental pictures must have swarmed to Elisha purifying this body of water with a bowl of mere salt so it could once again bare life. What good is salt if it loses its saltiness, if it's not doing what it's supposed to do, bring healing and wholeness and new life? Salt is not just a condiment to be added but a staple in the redemption process, there is no plan "B"!
