Think
Jesus was fully man, and that's why looking toward the timbers of the cross troubled his soul. He would feel everything. He would feel every whip, every splinter, every nail, every thorn, every torn muscle and tissue. He would experience it all just as you or I would. I think my should would be troubled too.
Yet, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. His entire life was building to this crescendo. This moment, where God's wrath would be satisfied and we would be forgiven. We would become sons and daughters, while Jesus would be orphaned, as God turned his face away. We would receive Christ's righteousness while he would receive our wretchedness. Yet, it was for this very reason he came.
Think upon this amazing act of love toward you. Does anyone love you like Jesus? Could anyone give you greater gifts then Jesus?
Pray
Jesus, I am in awe of you. The reason you came to earth was to win us to yourself. For love of the Father and love of us you came to die. Oh, what a costly death it was. For mankind death is an unavoidable experience. For God, it is a chosen act. One that you didn't have to endure. Thank you for enduring the troubledness of soul for me. Thank you for not giving in or giving up. Thank you for staying the course for the salvation of the world...for my salvation too.
Live
Jesus I want to be like you. I want to live for a purpose far greater than myself. When I experience my soul troubled I pray that I will not give up, that I will press on, that I will love till the end. Like, you Lord, I want my life and my death to count. For this very reason, I will live that others will come to know you, the Father and your Holy Spirit.
