Preparation For the Promise

As I read Genesis 41:44, I was struck, once again, at how all the trouble and harsh circumstance Joseph went through during the previous 13 or so years was preparing him for this moment. Literally, Joseph was being trained to run an entire nation.

Because of his experiences, Joseph possessed considerable knowledge and wisdom about people and how to deal with them. As well, he was well versed in the handling of wealth. Not to mention the fact that his relationship with God was obviously stronger than ever.

God gave me a promise, and I believe he is faithful to fulfill it. But I may have to struggle for a while before I'm ready to receive it. In fact, it may be a long while before I see God change my circumstances. I just have to remember that everything I go through is training for something greater.

The cool part is that when the promise came to Joseph, it came quickly. One hour he's a glorified prison guard (and is actually a prisoner himself), the next minute he's second in command of the country.

When God decides the time is right, you'd better buckle your seatbelt because He will do quick work. He'll blow your mind. You'll look back and see how He was leading you through every situation and circumstance and you'll praise Him!

But why wait? Why wait until the promise has arrived to praise Him? Praise Him now! Trust Him now! Since we know He's refining us, just like gold is refined in the fire, we can know that we will come out as pure gold!
