God bends down
Psalm 17:6 I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God.
Bend down and listen as I pray.
7 Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways.
By your mighty power you rescue
those who seek refuge from their enemies.
8 Guard me as you would guard your own eyes
Hide me in the shadow of your wings.
What a beautiful picture the Prayer Psalm describes! The Psalmist is fully confident that 1. God is going to answer; 2. God will bend down to listen; 3. God will show love in wonderful ways; 4 God has infinite power to rescue from our enemies (they are His enemies too); 5 God guards us as He would protect His own; God covers us with Himself.
Dear Friend, Believe that God is listening. The Psalmist laid awake thinking about His close relationship with God, examining his own heart to be sure their was no obstacle between himself and God - God's relationship was that important to him.
Believe that God loves us even though we are experiencing present trouble. It is that very trouble that draws our focus off the world and all on God. God will protect us and guide us through our present trouble; He will never leave us or forsake us. Nothing in this present world will satisfy us - only God's love will bring us that peace and joy. Today, may we know God's infinite love, His comforting all-powerful presence, His great mercy to bring us through our troubles and His wonderful way of joy and peace.
