When God Lets Go
When I counsel people I often find myself telling them that they need to let go of something from their past, or of something they are dealing with right now! Letting go can be a good thing, but when God let's us go - it's about as bad a thing as can be!
Paul tells us that because of their bad exchange - exchanging the truth of God for a lie and worshiping created things rather than the creator - God let people go and gave them over to the sinful desires of their hearts.
What I find fascinating is that the desires mentioned are all sexual. I know that many people use passages like this to say that Christian hate sex and think it's evil. That's all rubbish of course! God invented sex, and loves it, in it's proper place which the Scriptures teach is marriage.
What this passage does show us is just how universally powerful our sex drive is, and how when it's unleashed from God's control it nearly always leads us into disaster!
One only has to look at the number of babies aborted or born out of wedlock or the STD rates in this country to find plenty of evidence that this is always true!
So instead of arguing with God, we'd do a lot better if we just repented to him, and then started following his ways once again!
