Distinguishing God's Voice

All plausible temptations were given to Jesus in the wilderness. It's like that for us, too. Culture is tempting. Success is tempting. That 600-calorie sundae is tempting (ok, that last one is more healthy choice than temptation). But being tempted isn't a sin; failing to overcome it is.

The enemy is always whispering plausible lies to us. Ultimately, we have to choose whether we're going to obey God or follow our own path.

Jesus obeyed. Jesus didn't argue with temptation, either. "Arguing with temptation only increases its attractiveness." - my pastor said that. Jesus quotes scripture instead. He's learned to distinguish between the voice of God and the voice of the tempter.

I'm reading my Bible. I want to distinguish between what's true and what's false, between the One who loves me and the one who seeks to destroy me. It's a jungle out there. You ready?
