The story of Ruth makes an excellent screenplay for a “chick flick”. There is drama, tragedy, romance, a mysterious foreign woman, a manly man who is strong and rich yet tender and gentle, all set against a dark background of tragedy, war, famine. The story starts with a man leading his family down a road of common sense and reasonable decisions but failure to count the spiritual price costs him everything.
