God's Rewards

Humbling ourselves doesn't come easy. If it did, we'd all be as abundantly blessed as God planned for us. One little 5-letter word stands in the way: P-R-I-D-E. You might say, "But I don't brag about things, or put others down who may not have as much as I do". Pride, however, as many levels and layers of it are built up over the years. It takes an act of God to help us see that even the slightest hint of pride, such as not accepting or asking for help. It can be pride in our children or spouse. Yes, it is wrong to be prideful of them, because God is the one who gave them to us. God is the one who gives them their talents, skills, giftings. He is the one who brings the right opportunities to us and our loved ones.

When we can truly allow God to see where we need to be humbled and truly ask Him to have complete authority and lordship of every area in our lives, the humbling we get to do in the Spirit is in itself a wonderful reward. Then we can truly appreciate the magnitude of God's love and the beauty and fulfillment of His promises.
