Damage of Fool vs. Bear
As I look at the picture of a grizzly bear on the calendar in front of me, I remember the times at the zoo when I looked at this powerful animals from behind bulletproof glass. It is unimaginable to think of being face to face with one of a mother bear without some kind of protection, let alone being in the presence of a mother bear when she lost her cubs and is in the height of her fury.
In God's eyes, encountering a fool is more harmful than an angry mother bear. I meet fools all the time, not to be offensive to them, but it takes no special ability to be a fool. Naturally, I fear a highly aggressive bear, not fools. But a fool can lead me in the wrong direction and influence me to do things that are harmful to my relationship with my Father and others, ultimately inflicting great harm to my soul. A bear can only attack my flesh. Most people will agree that it's easier to heal flesh rather than soul. Only our Creator can heal our soul.
For those who ask what "transform yourself by the renewing of the mind" means, this is a prime example. Start looking at this life as temporary. Start evaluating the things that are eternal. Think like God teaches us to think.
