Enriched?

This verse intrigues me. "...that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge..." The word "enrich" is an odd word. I don't hear it used that often. Enriched milk comes to mind. Webster online defines enrich this way: ": to make rich or richer esp. by the addition or increase of some desirable quality, attribute, or ingredient." Word Pictures in the New Testament suggests that Paul is making a reference to the spiritual gifts of tongues, interpreting tongues and discernment (amongst others) that the early church of Corinth had been blessed with. In essence, the speech and knowledge of those in the Corinthian church obtained a new element. This would explain why verse 7 picks up the thought saying "so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift..." What had been given as a blessing had been taken and perverted by the Corinthian church. Paul appreciated the fact that God had blessed the church in such a great way, but he was displeased with how the church misused this blessing.

How has God enriched our lives in other ways? Are there blessings within the church today that have been perverted? Is there any cause for concern on our part? Good questions to ask.
