Protecting the honour of God's name

In this passage the Lord makes it very clear on several occasions that he wanted to punish Israel but didn't as it would mean going against the covenant that he had with them, because if he did break it, it would bring dishonour to his name.

Makes me wonder . . . How often is God so close to giving up on me but doesn't because he has a covenant with me through Jesus and to do so would be to dishonour himself. Perhaps its just me babbling but wow!
Now I am assured of God's wholehearted love for me but I know how often I let him down. Put a different spin on God's love I think.
