Not expecting anything back
We often look at our relationship with God as a "what can I get out of it" sort of thing. Of course we get something out of it, more than we would expect or imagine but thats not the point! We don't follow Jesus or obey him so that we can get something from him, we do it because its our duty. The right thing to do. What is expected. I have never thought of my obedience to God as being a duty. I don't know if that makes it easier or harder to obey but it does put it into proper perspective. Help me God to give you what you deserve and fulfill my duty.
