Active in your community

We are all creatures with the basic need for interaction, be it limited to a handful of close friends or a room full of strangers. Pack creatures, we draw strength from and support for one another.

Jesus was Jesus, He was God. He didn’t need any help to accomplish His mission. In fact, it would have been a journey less arduous without the fumblings of His disciples. Yet Jesus chose not to work in solitude; He began His ministry with a band of 12. Jesus understood the benefits of community to man. And he promoted it by spending most of his time on earth socializing, in the company of others.

His biggest teaching moments also occurred in public: the lesson on judging others as the people were getting ready to stone the prostitute, the beatitudes when gathered to worship, the wrongs of racism when they met the woman at the well, etc. etc.

Jesus’ deliberate choice to interact and socialize with people was deliberate and points to a vital element in the vibrant Christian life: Live within a community and not in solitude.
