Disciplined and focused attention

Daniel's reaction to the vision was one of focused prayer and mourning. This is an interesting example for us. So often I try to move on or beyond something that isn't pleasant. I'll pray, but won't focus on the trouble at hand. Prayer is sometimes more like a quick washing of the wound rather than a dressing that helps, then needs to be changed, and cycles over and over until the wound is healed. Daniel didn't seem to mourn because he thought he would gain pity or favor. Rather, he mourned because he lived in the moment.
