take me by surprise

First of all it’s so amazing and such a sharp contrast to our world today that the worst of sinner’s would be even interested in seeing Jesus and hearing what He had to say. But word was spreading quickly that Jesus was a friend of the sinner. Never the less I still don’t think that Zacchaeus expected Him to call his name, speak to him much less invite himself over for dinner. I think that Zacchaeus was definitely interested in seeing Jesus and maybe deep down wanted Jesus to acknowledge him or glance his way but to be called out and to have his life changed was probably unexpected by him. I say that because none of us expect to our lives to be changed. It’s amazing to see others but we don’t believe the same for ourselves. That I believe was intentional on Jesus’ part to call him out, take him when he least expected it. As a result Zacchaeus responded by saying ‘yes’ to Jesus and made immediate decisions as proof of his new faith to give back what to took from others. I am reminded today that Jesus came for Zacchaeus and people like me to take me by surprise and change my life forever.
